Method
Step 1: Prepare the Beef
- Thinly slice the steak against the grain into bite-sized strips.
- Pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Step 2: Make the Stir Fry Sauce
- In a small bowl, whisk together coconut aminos, beef broth, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sweetener, and red pepper flakes.
- If using xanthan gum, sprinkle a very small pinch into the sauce while whisking to avoid clumping.
- Set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Broccoli
- Heat 1 tablespoon of avocado oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
- Remove broccoli from the pan and set aside.
Step 4: Cook the Beef
- Add another tablespoon of oil to the same pan.
- Add beef slices in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until browned.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan—cook in batches if necessary.
Step 5: Add Aromatics
- Add garlic and ginger to the pan with the beef.
- Stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 6: Combine and Finish
- Return broccoli to the pan with the beef.
- Pour in the prepared sauce.
- Toss everything together and simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
- Remove from heat and garnish with green onions.
